16 People have been detained under suspicion that they were involved in the recent murder of a Bajaj (rickshaw) driver in the city of Dhagaxbuur in the Somali region under Ethiopian rule.
The body of Suldan Abdi Khalif was found riddled with bullets on the outskirts of Dhagaxbuur, prompting suspicion that he was lured there.
The identies of the 16 people implicated in the murder have not been released. Similarly, the motives behind the killing remains unknown.
Dhagaxbuur, the provincial capital of Jarar province has been peaceful over the past few years. Therefore, the recent killing has sparked growing concern over prospects for renewed violence in the region.
