Special forces from the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) have intercepted a vehicle laden with explosives overnight in the Elasha-Biyaha district on the outskirts of the Somali capital, Mogadishu.
The Somali intelligence agency (NISA) reportedly got a tip that Al-Shabaab were trying to smuggle a car bomb into Mogadishu, which prompted the NISA agents to engage the vehicle and its driver.
Often times, Al-Shabaab smuggles in explosive-laden vehicles, weapons and even fighters from the neighboring Lower Shabelle region in a bid to carry out attacks in the capital city of Mogadishu.
