Representative and Country Director of the World Food Programme (WFP) Somalia, Mr. El-Khidir Daloum Mahmoud Ahmed (Left) and the Executive Director of the national non-governmental organization HIDA (NGO) Mr. Mohamud Ali Nur (Right), held a meeting at the WFP compound in Bosaso on October 20, 2021. El-Khidir Daloum, a Sudanese national, took up his position with The Country Director of WFP Somalia in September 2021. Prior to his appointment in Somalia, he served as Representative and Country Director for WFP Uganda from November 2016.
The meeting aimed to build on the ongoing cooperation between WFP & HIDA by discussing their current projects and exploring opportunities for further cooperation. The key objective was to continue providing vital assistance to vulnerable communities in Somalia, leveraging the strengths of both organizations to make a meaningful impact. WFP plays a crucial role in addressing food insecurity and humanitarian crises in the region.
HIDA has been frontier implementing agency of WFP for more years spearheading humanitarian efforts geared towards saving lives in the immediate aftermath of life threatening shocks such as droughts, floods, and locust invasions through delivery of relief assistances to crises-affected population in the locations of Banderbayla and Iskushuban of Bari Region Somalia.
Anyhow, Mr. Mohamud Ali Nur shared with Mr. El-Khidir Daloum the severity of the drought that affected Banderbayla and Iskushuban in the Bari Region of Somalia in this 2021, and how the World Food Programme (WFP) donations support those who were impacted by the drought.
Finally, it seems that the discussion between Mr. Mohamud Ali Nur and Mr. El-Khidir Daloum went beyond just sharing information about the drought and the WFP’s donations. They also emphasized the importance of scaling up efforts and resources to support those in need.
