A delegation from the Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Foundation for Humanitarian Works visited the historic Warsangeli of Puntland State of Somalia to assess the humanitarian situation in order to provide assistance to those affected by the drought.
The delegation, headed by Mohammed Khalifa, was warmly welcomed by officials of the Puntland State government and prominent local figures, led by Sultan of Warsangeli, Sultan Saeed, the leader of the Warsangeli tribe, which is widely spread throughout the region.
“This visit has the good effect of strengthening brotherly relations between the UAE and Somali people and assessing the humanitarian situation in drought-affected areas,” said the head of the UAE delegation. “We came to extend a helping hand to our Somali brothers and brothers, in this particular circumstance.”
After talks with the local dignitaries, the head of the UAE delegation expressed his happiness with the visit, hoping to strengthen the spirit of brotherhood and motivate more efforts for the benefit of the brothers in the state of Puntland.
