A letter to My beloved Somalia

A letter to My beloved Somalia

Dear Somalia

For a long time, you played a leading role in African liberations. You were seen as beacon of hope and leading light for democracy in a land of darkness.

Your lovely name was respected and revered; and your lush valleys, marshlands, arid terrain, and parched mountains have given birth to long distance runners and sporting luminaries like Abdi Bile, Mo Farah, Abdi Nageeye, and Bashir Abdi who have won lots of Olympic medals, World Champions, Marathons, EU Championships and Diamond Leagues.

But here I was lost for words and forced to look on. My eyes filled with tears of dismay as millions of people across our globe’s vast lands and seas lampooned you and turned you into a laughingstock.

Your Azure flag that looks like a cloudless African sky on a sunny day and is lovingly lined up with bright white star which was ludicrously stained, lambasted and belittled due to a little unknown event in the Far East land of Chinese Dragons. Tragically, your long history and legacy was lost and erased in less than ninety seconds.

Through no fault of your own, a bunch of losers led by clannish loudmouths have let you down. They looted your dignity and humanity and left you laden with heavy loads of corruption and humiliation.

Let’s hope and pray that you will have better and brighter days and this gloomy nightmare will come to an end very soon.

Yours Forever Loving Son,
