Turkey’s Involvement in Somalia Raises Concerns Amidst Puntland’s War Against ISIS
Turkish officials in Mogadishu, associated with the Turkish Foreign Ministry and intelligence agencies, are now publicly challenging Somalia’s Federal Member States, particularly Puntland, by criticizing Puntland’s efforts against ISIS in the #Calmiskaad mountain range. With Villa Somalia’s war on terror floundering, Umut Cagrisari, an alleged Turkish intelligence member, is pushing Puntland to replicate Villa Somalia’s failures.

As public support for Turkey’s presence in Somalia wanes and the number of Syrians and Central Asians from Turkey joining ISIS in Puntland increases, the people of Puntland are growing more suspicious of Turkey’s agenda in Somalia.
With the rebranding of Abu Muhammad al-Jawlani (al-Golani), the founder of the al-Nusra terrorist group and co-founder of ISIS in Syria along with Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, into “HE Ahmed Hussein al-Shara,” the leader of Syria, now complete, and no $10 million reward on his head, a similar attempt by Erdogan and his intelligence for Somalia is expected. However, this attempt will surely fail as Puntland continues to defeat ISIS in the #Calmiskaad mountains and its foreign fighters from Syria and Central Asia.
