Following an unsuccessful attempt to remove MP Abdullahi Hashi Abib from parliament, Speaker Adan Madobe instructs the Disciplinary Committee Chair to reach out and negotiate a deal with Abib to cease his investigations into corruption at Villa Somalia and the Speaker’s Office. MP Abib declined the offer and then followed up with the following letter to the Somali people.

Message to ALL Somali People,
I want to take a moment to share with you an important and unexpected experience regarding recent conversations I had with MP Mohamed Ibrahim Ali (Cajiib), the Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee of the House of the People and a key representative of the President in Parliament.
On Monday at around 11:00 PM Mogadishu time, I received a call from MP Mohamed Ibrahim Ali (Cajiib). Given our past interactions – particularly his threats toward me during the December 2023 budget debate – I was surprised. However, I answered the call with respect and professionalism. He spoke about resolving my differences with Villa Somalia. I made it clear that I have no personal grievances and that my only concern is the marginalization of the people of Awdal Region and Gebileh District. I told him that if the President is genuinely willing to address these concerns, I am ready for dialogue.
During our 20-minute conversation, I outlined the specific demands that must be addressed. MP Mohamed Ibrahim Ali (Cajiib) requested 72 hours to return with a response and asked me to halt my investigations during this time. I firmly rejected this request, reminding him that I took an oath to serve the Somali people and will not pause my duties.
The Request List:
Recognition of Awdal State as Federal Member State of Somalia
Minister A
State Minister to be ADDED
1 Director General
3 Department Directors
2 Consuls General
3 Chairpersons of Independent Agencies
1 Position Each Leadership Command – NISA, National Police, Somali National Army and Correctional Forces
True to his words, he called back after 72 hours – though two hours late. This time, he cited the failed assassination attempt on the President and his return to the frontline as reasons for needing a two-week extension. Again, he insisted that I pause my oversight work to finalize an agreement, and again, I refused. Frustrated, he declared that there was no deal. Our second call lasted seven minutes.
It is now clear that this so-called outreach effort was never about finding real solutions for the Somali people. Instead, it was a calculated attempt to silence me and undermine my investigations, which have exposed the failures of this government. The illegal attempts to expel me from Parliament and the large sums of money being funneled to the Speaker of the House to suppress my voice all confirm this reality.
Furthermore, my sources within Villa Somalia have informed me that in February 2025, the President received a report from the U.S. lobbying firm BGR in Washington DC. The report outlined their failure to secure positive engagement between the Somali government and the White House since President Donald J. Trump took office in January 2025. The lobbying firm placed the blame on my oversight investigations, which I had shared with U.S. officials. In response, the President and his inner circle intensified their efforts to silence me, using fabricated claims about my parliamentary attendance.
Let me be clear: I attended the fourth session of Parliament, and for the fifth session, I formally requested security guarantees in writing in July, which the Speaker of the House denied. Instead of ensuring my safety, they used my justified concerns against me to push their false narrative.
But let me be even clearer: I will not back down. I will continue to fight for transparency, justice, and the rights of the Somali people. I deeply appreciate the unwavering support I have received from communities inside and outside Somalia and from members of the international community who are committed to Somalia’s progress.
I remain steadfast in my oath to serve you all. I will not fail you.
