The police force in the Somali region in Ethiopia have apprehended a murder suspect tied to the death of a man in the Puntland state of northeast Somalia.
The murder reportedly occurred in the Mudug region of Somalia’s Puntland state, where Abdifatah Ali Warsame is alleged to have killed a man in the town of Mayle (near Jariban, Mudug) before fleeing to the neighboring Somali region of Somalia.
Upon apprehension in the Somali regional state, the murder suspect was handed over to police officers from the Puntland regional state of Somalia, in which he was extradited to Puntland to face trial.
Its unclear at the moment, on who assisted the suspect with fleeing Puntland and who he’d been in contact with in the Somali regional state prior to becoming apprehended.
The Puntland state and the Somali regional state have enhanced collaboration in recent years with a particular focus on border security, combating crime and the flow of illicit contraband on both sides of the border.
