Suspected KDF airstrikes target Somali town, civilians wounded

A wave of airstrikes carried out by suspected KDF aircraft targeted the Al-Shabaab controlled town of Ceel-Cadde in the Gedo region of Somalia.

Four missiles that were fired from aircraft hovering overhead reportedly struck civilian homes in the town wounding two people, according to the pro militant radio station dubbed “Radio Andulus”, which operates in Ceel-Cadde.

The town of Ceel-Cadde was the site of a similar airstrike earlier this month, which called a prominent Sheikh identified as Sheikh Abdirahman Sheikh Abdullahi Ali, who also was the chairman of education affairs in Ceel-Cadde, according to a report by the Voice of America.

The Kenyan military has been accused on numerous occasion through out the years for carrying out indiscriminate airstrikes in Somalia that target densly populated civilian neighborhoods, telecommunication masts, health facilities, among other civilian infostructure.

The Somali government is yet to address the recent wave of airstrikes in the country carried out by a neighboring state, which comes in direct violation of Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial independence.
