The humiliation of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud continues unabated and hardly catches a break. Whether he comes back from the UAE with a black eye and a cast on his arm or comes back from Germany politically damaged, trouble always follows him around, no matter where.
Last year on June just a month after his inauguration, President Hassan Sheikh came back from the United Arab Emirates with visible injuries under his left eye. His Chief of Staff also came back with a broken right hand & 3 fingers fractured.

This week was no different, except this time it is Finland demanding from President Hassan Sheikh to cut them the same deal he cut with Germany. But apparently the Finish deal wasn’t as sweet for the President as that of Chancellor Olaf Scholz, hence he turned it down. As a result, Finland suspended development aid and bilateral cooperation with Somalia over the president’s refusal to accept repatriation of Somali citizens in the country.
THE DISGRACING OF SOMALIA LEADERS CONTINUES AND NEVER CATCHES A BREAK
The West’s humiliation of Somalia and Somalia leaders never ceases. A few days ago, the Denmark Ambassador @DKambSomalia publicly violated Somalia sovereignty and arrogantly said he has no care for Somalia… https://t.co/NbEgaQ2gn5 pic.twitter.com/aGi83Xv9Qw

And what was President Hassan Sheikh’s deal with Olaf and Germany? As one local newspaper put it, “Hassan Sheikh Mohammed brought with him a promise that is proving to be “butter on the bread” of the Social Democrat chancellor, who has been heavily criticized over the immigration issue.”
Finland wants that same “butter on the bread” deal, but so does President Hassan Sheikh, who told Olaf Scholz, “I will take back every refugee from Somalia who does not have a residence permit here in Germany or who has not been integrated into the country.”
THE HUMILIATION RITUAL OF SOMALIA AND SOMALI LEADERS CONTINUES UNABATED AS FINLAND ASKS PRESIDENT HASSAN SHEIKH TO CUT A DEAL OR ELSE

Federal Government of Somalia MP Dr. Abdullahi Hashi Abib doesn’t like what he sees and in a scathing letter to EU leaders writes, “Let it be clear: We, the Somali people, will not bow to blackmail, whether it comes from far-right politicians in Finland or from the most corrupt government in Somalia’s history. This move does not punish the Somali people but instead reveals the rot at the heart of Somalia’s so-called leadership. The Somali government, already implicated in some of the biggest corruption scandals in the country’s history, now stands accused of selling out its citizens to the highest bidder. This betrayal – trading Somali lives to appease foreign governments in violation of international asylum laws – must be condemned with the strongest voice.”

MP Abib tells the EU leaders that the humiliation rituals they apply to Somalia’s president won’t be accepted by the proud Somalis and reminds them, “The Somali people are proud and resilient, willing to endure hardships for their dignity and pride rather than begging for handouts. This pride has been trampled upon by a government that does not represent Somali People values, traditions, or aspirations. Instead of defending Somali sovereignty, the leadership has turned the country into a marketplace where citizens’ rights and resources are traded for personal profit.”
As for Finland’s suspension of development aid, MP Abib informs them to please keep it by politely telling the Finish government, “Somali citizens have never seen a single dollar of the Finnish aid supposedly intended to support them, this aid has instead enriched corrupt Finnish NGOs and Somalia’s deeply entrenched kleptocratic government. For Somali citizens, this suspension is not a punishment but a long-overdue rejection of a corrupt mechanism that has undermined our dignity and perpetuated a cycle of dependency and injustice.”
MP Abib concludes, “Until the EU ends its hypocritical stance and Somalia rejects corruption and incompetence, the migration crisis will worsen. The time for emotional racism and colonial mentalities is over. Somali citizens are not bargaining chips for failed EU policies or corrupt Somali officials. Their dignity and rights are non-negotiable. Both entities must embrace accountability, transparency, and genuine respect for human rights to achieve lasting solutions.”
