Hodan Ali, a political activists and a former supporter of President Hassan Sheikh, had enough of Villa Somalia’s incompetence and politicization of Somalia’s security forces.
In her latest post on X, Hodan scolds President Hassan Sheikh on the Raas Kaambooni military fiasco and writes, “The Raas Kambooni disaster (a bastard child of the Coosweyne massacre) reveals more than just military catastrophe. It exposes the SYSTEMIC ROT of a politicized security apparatus, where the chain of command has been sacrificed at the altar for petty political schemes.”
Blaming the President for his knack of manufacturing disastrous political decisions, Hodan scolds the president that his attack on “Jubbaland was a crisis of CHOICE, not a crisis of necessity.”
Hodan then questions the leadership skills and ability of Hassan Sheikh and why would the president of the nation send “young soldiers to their death knowing the terrain and location.”
Retelling the consequences of those decisions, Hodan writes, “We witnessed the nation’s most painful and most embarrassing military defeat in recent history. We knew it. We warned. No one listened.”
Hodan then reminds the president that “you cannot govern through COERCION without eventually tasting the ashes of your own failure.”
And what led President Hassan Sheikh to such disastrous political and military decisions? Hodan provides some answers and writes, “For over 2.5 years, an UNELECTED, corrupt CABAL has hijacked Somalia’s political and security apparatus, steering the nation toward an unprecedented chaos. Public trust has eroded, and the government has become its OWN worst enemy.”
And who has to take blame for such tragic losses? Hodan, not mincing any words, tells the nation that “At the helm of this tragic farce is President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, SLEEPWALKING from one calamity to the next — presiding over a procession of crises.”
And what are the consequences to the nation? Hodan answers that “The consequences are staggering” and lists one staggering failure after another failure:
“A military in shambles; A fractured federation; And a nation abandoned to fear and despair.”
The advice then comes next, and Hodan tells President Hassan Sheikh “to read the room and act” by taking the following steps”
1. REPLACE PM Hamza Abdi Barre and build a coalition government
2. Strip SNA of political interference and rebuilt it as a disciplined and unified force.
3. Treat Jubbaland and other regional states as PARTNERS, not enemies, through GENUINE dialogue
3. Oust the corrupt CABAL a/k/a DJ & Co driving the nation into ruins and restore credibility to the machinery of governance.
Hodan warns that if President Hassan Sheikh doesn’t take these immediate steps Somalia could descend into “a STATE collapse.”
Hodan Ali finally wonders if President Hassan Sheikh can learn from his mistakes, make a course correction, and “salvage his beleaguered presidency.”
Hodan isn’t hopeful and with regret states, “If the past is any indication; the answer is – more of the same.”
However, Hodan still is despair begs, “Mr. President PLEASE change course.”
