Vehicle-borne bomb blast rocks Mogadishu

A vehicle that had an explosive device attached to it, detonated today in the Shibis district of Mogadishu.

The vehicle identified as a Toyota Surf was parked adjacent to the Rajo restaurant in the Shibist district when it exploded and was subsequently engulfed in flames.

No one was hurt in the bombing, including the driver who Daljir Media confirmed was in a nearby gym when the explosion occured.

Its unclear why the owner of the vehicle was targeted and what’s more suspicious was on the location in which the explosive device attached to the vehicle was detonated.

The explosion took place at the Beexaani junction in Mogadishu’s Shibis district, which is right next door to the headquarters of the National Intelligence & Security Agency (NISA).

In recent weeks, Mogadishu has seen a surge in vehicle-borne explosions with targeting ranging from security officials to ordinary citizens.
