WHO IS MP DR. ABDULLAHI HASHI ABIB AND WHAT HAS HE DONE FOR HIS CONSTITUENCY OF AWDAL REGION AND GABILEH DISTRICT BEFORE AND AFTER BECOMING A MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT?

With real constituency representation totaling lacking in today’s Somalia, and every member of parliament busy making a buck for himself, MP Dr. Abdullahi Hashi Abib is an exception. He isn’t only renown for his fight against corruption and nepotism, but he is also well-known for fighting for the development of his constituency of Awdal Region and Gabileh district.

During this long battle for his constituency and for the Somali people in general, MP Abib has made lots of political enemies, and none is more critical of him today than Villa Somalia. To blemish the MP’s record, character and reputation, Villa Somalia is alleged to have funded, organized and then unleashed teams who are hellbent on ruining the MP’s record of constituency representation.

To set the record straight, we have reached out to the MP to share his story and history of standing by his constituency, and what he has achieved, openly and behind the scenes, in support of his constituency.

Dr. Abib wrote back to Daljir.

Thank you Daljir team. My family and I have devoted our lives to bettering the lives of ordinary communities in Awdal Region and Gebileh District since 1996, focusing on areas such as education (Amoud University, Eelo University, and rural schools), health, and humanitarian assistance. We have delivered over 87 containers of medical supplies, equipment, medicine, educational materials, and humanitarian aid.

As a Member of Parliament representing Awdal Region and Gebileh District, I have fought for their rights in the power-sharing formula regarding projects, resources, and government positions, using my pen and mind. I’m the only Member of Parliament who has publicly spoken about the misappropriation of resources by the Federal Republic of Somalia, ensuring that the community from Awdal Region and Gebileh District received their rightful share of government appointments, while others remained silent. I’m also the only Member of Parliament who requested the Federal Government to clearly state the status of the Lowyada-Borama project, which was funded by the African Development Bank. When the Federal Government refused to respond, I reached out directly to the African Development Bank for answers.

I’m the only Member of Parliament who cut ties with the President and Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia when our Minister A was taken away from Awdal Region and Gebileh District, while other members of parliament failed to stand up for the rights of Awdal Region and Gebileh District, choosing instead to protect their personal interests at the expense of our community.

I am the only Member of Parliament who has delivered small but high-quality medical supplies to Awdal Region and Gebileh District from WHO and IOM. I’m still working to secure more aid for these regions.

I’m the only Member of Parliament who drafted a motion to bring the Prime Minister of Ethiopia to the International Criminal Court for aggression against Awdal Region and Gebileh District. When this motion was illegally blocked by the Speaker of the House of the People, I took my case to both the International Criminal Court and the Inter-Parliamentary Union, since Somalia lacks a Constitutional Court.

I’m the only Member of Parliament taking the case against the illegal MOU to the UN Security Council and the international community. I’m playing a critical role in showcasing how this MOU threatens national security, using the talents and skills that Almighty Allah has given me to benefit and defend my community and my country.

I will continue to defend Awdal Region and Gebileh District where it matters, rather than spending 24 hours talking on media. I will continue non stop doing my oversight investigation duties on the Executive Branch.

I’m the only Member of Parliament who refused to support individuals claiming leadership of Awdal State without proper elections. I advised other members of parliament not to bring any so-called leadership to Mogadishu, as it would only showcase divisions within our community. I’m ready to support an elected leader from Awdal Region and Gebileh District who can genuinely lead them towards establishing Awdal State of Somalia.

I will continue working on to secure aid, development projects, and defend the land and sea of Awdal Region and Gebileh District. I will neither seek permission nor apologize for how I support and defend these regions.

I will never sell out my people for personal gain, but I will humbly accept anything that positively impacts Awdal Region and Gebileh District. I’m ready to die defending Awdal Region and Gebileh District.

AWDAL AND GEBILEH ARE IN MY HEART AND SOUL!

In addition, MP Dr. Abib shared with Radio Daljir documentations of some of the work he has done for his constituency of Awdal Region and Gabileh district as follows.
